Exams
Woot woot! Exams are over!
Things I learned/thought/noticed this week:
1. Exams are boring. Also a good environment for daydreaming. I only noticed this recently, probably because in high school I was busy actually doing the exam...
2. I have brought shame upon myself and my high school English teachers by actually starting a conclusion with the words, 'In conclusion...' :-(
3. Curséd be those who ask for extra sheets of paper! I rarely fill half the exam booklet. How do they do it?!
4. You know you spend too much time on the internet when you pause part-way through writing the word 'nominate' to snigger at the phrase "which religion to nom."
5. A gender-neutral singular pronoun in English would be really nice. I tend to use 'one,' or alternate between 'he' and 'she,' but neither is ideal.
6. "It's going to be a no surprises exam" actually means "the questions will be exactly the same as last year."
A student who changes the course of history is probably taking an exam. ?

1. They ARE! I used to get bored in them too! I'm glad it's not just me! :)
2. HAHAH! I may have done that once or twice too, actually. Sorry *teacherswhowillremainnamelessincasetheygooglethemselves*! :P
3. Nor did I! I figure those people either have ginormous handwriting, which takes up more space, only write on every second line, or make lots of mistakes and cross lots of things out. I don't know. Those are just my theories. :)
4. Teehee. Don't worry, I sniggered too. So longas you didn't write LOLspeak in your essay I think you're ok. :)
5. OMG. It would! I use "one" too, or collective "he". *shrug*
6. ROFL! Did you have one of those!? That's almost as good as Olga showing us the entire Spanish paper before the exam in Year 12!
Btw, I Tweeted about HP with a link to your last post, so if you notice a number of unusual hits/comments, that's why. :P
YAY! Freedom! Teen movies and lolly sushi await!
1. I was always too busy panicking that everyone else seemes to be writing more than me to get bored. Although there was that one time with the English mock exam where I didn't write anything. That was kinda boring :P
2. LOL! I ALWAYS do that! Don't think anyone ever told me not to, though, and I've never been marked down for it (AFAIK).
3. The only exam booklet I ever came close to filling was a syntax one, where we had to draw tree diagrams. The sentences got more complex as the exam went on, and my writing got smaller and smaller as I tried to fit the diagrams on one page. I think other people just have epic handwriting.
4. WIN. I giggled too :P
5. Yup it would! We really need one that isn't 'it' or 'one'. 'One' sounds snooty and 'it' just doesn't sound right. Maybe we need to use one of them enough to make it standard and normal-sounding.
6. I don't think I've had one of those (although I never did any practice papers so I wouldn't know!). I had a couple of open-book exams though, they're awesome!
