Music Monday: Glitter in the Air
Long time, no post, I know. I guess I should make it official that I'm not going to be blogging a hell of a lot until the mid-semester holidays. I haven't had this many hours of the week filled since high school. Not complaining really, but it is taking its toll on my interwebs time. Being lazy doesn't help either. :-P
Glitter in the Air - Pink. The album it's on (Funhouse) is fantastic - a good mixture of fun songs and sweet songs and sad songs.
I really like this song but it does have one lyric that bugs me every time: "the thunder before the lightning." Spot the mistake? There's a Sheryl Crow song that does it too: "every time you hear the rolling thunder, you turn away before the lightning strikes." Nice lyrics, just not meteorologically correct.
I could eat alphabet soup and shit better lyrics. Johnny Mercer. (Not directed at either of the songs mentioned here, just funny and mildly relevant.)

Not something I'd usually listen to, but yes, it is a cute song. I'm listening to it three times as I type this comment. :)
The thunder/lightening thing didn't annoy me as much as "YOU'RE whole life waiting on the ring to prove you're not alone" did! Mind you, I suspect that's probably FAIL on the part of the person who created the video as opposed to the person who wrote the lyrics. BUT...that particular lyric redeems itself because it rings the most true for me Ooh...see my pun!? ;)
In other news, I know what you mean about being the busiest you've been in awhile. I'm in the same boat too, although oddly, I'm still not as busy as I thought I was going to be! o.O Although...that's because P. doesn't take up as much time as I thought it would, I haven't started uni assignments yet, or started tutoring, or long rehearsals for Oliver, or directing anything for drama school...so eventually I might have to retract that comment! :(
Yeah, it's surprising how many mistakes are in youtube lyric videos. I looked at several before I chose this one. That lyric about the ring is really clever! Did you think first of wedding ring or phone ring? Nice pun. *groan*

I like this song. For a while I thought I only liked Pink in even-numbered albums (I liked stuff from her 2nd and 4th albums, but not from her 1st, 3rd and 5th. I HATE the song 'Rock Star') But then I heard the song 'Sober' and liked it and realised I like Pink when she's being angsty, but not when she's being all cocky and 'look-how-cool-i-am'. This song falls into the former category.
It also reminds me of this song from Bones http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pFbjE7NFmUI, especially the first line of the chorus (of the Pink song), just the sound/melody. Somehow.
Yeah that thunder/lightning thing is annoying. The line would have scanned just as well if they were the other way around.
